Ce matin, je me suis levée et j’ai médité. Ensuite, j’ai voulu écouté une vidéo de motivation personnelle mais mes écouteurs étaient dans ma chambre. Je ne pouvais pas y retourner de peur de réveiller mon chéri. J’ai donc travaillé sur un projet littéraire et plus tard, j’ai écouté un podcast. Ecouter quelque chose de positif m’a fait du bien et je me suis souvenu que j’avais sacrifié cette routine depuis mon déménagement. Je me suis souvenue des citations de motivation que je collectionnais à une certaine époque. J’en ai partagées sur mon Instagram et j’ai pensé que ça serait une idée formidable de les partager avec vous sur le blog. J’adore les citations. Elles me motivent à avancer dans plusieurs domaines de ma vie, notamment l’écriture.

When I woke up this morning, I meditated. After that I couldn’t listen to a motivational speech because boo was sleeping in the room where I kept my earphones. Then, I went on working on a manuscript and listened to a podcast by Jay Shetty after he left home. I enjoyed it so much that I remembered that I gave up on that routine since I moved in. I also remembered how much I loved reading motivational quotes and the impact they have in my life and on my writing. So, I thought I would share with you the ones that I already shared on Instagram and which I found really powerful. They may inspire you in case you are in a stage of your life where you feel stuck.

Avant mon déménagement, j’avais une routine d’écriture claire. Je me levais le matin à 4h ou à 5h et j’écrivais pendant 1h après avoir médité. Aucune personne extérieure ne pouvait changer cela puisque je vivais pratiquement seule. Après mon déménagement, ma routine a changé. Je me couchais plus tard et me levais donc plus tard. Je ne parvenais plus à écrire parce que je dormais à l’heure à laquelle ma productivité était à son paroxysme. Après une introspection, j’ai réalisé que je devais protéger mon espace tout en étant avec mon partenaire. Hier, j’ai donc décidé de me coucher plus tôt et j’ai été ravie de voir mes yeux s’ouvrir naturellement à 5h du matin. J’ai écrit pendant une heure et j’en étais ravie.

Before moving in to my new home, I was living alone and my writing routine was clear and any change in my programme would depend of me. Since I moved in, my routines has changed. I sleep and wake up later and since my productivity was at his foremost in the morning I barely wrote in a month. I tried to write in vain after nine. I knew I had to go back to my previous routine, which I did. It was really important if I wanted to edit my manuscript and work on all my literally projects. I had to protect my space.

When you live with your family you easily get drawn by other routines till you forget your own. It is important that you protect your space without sacrificing others.

J’aime lire. Ma mère a une petite bibliothèque dans son salon. Il y a des romans français et américains dans sa collection. Je les ai tous dévorés. Cette habitude me poursuit jusqu’à aujourd’hui. Entre temps, je lis aussi des livres non-fictifs. Toutes ces lectures ont façonné qui je suis et la vision que j’ai du monde. C’est ce bagage littéraire et cette vision du monde que je transpose dans mes œuvres. Si je ne lisais pas, j’écrirais certainement sur d’autres sujets que ceux qui m’intéressent particulièrement aujourd’hui (féminisme, racisme, image positive de l’Afrique, cheveux crépus). Voilà ce que la lecture m’apporté.

I like reading. My mother has a small collection of books in her living rooms. There are mostly French and American novels. I read all of them. I continue to read today. Now I also affectionate non-fiction books and articles. Those books have contributed to make the person I have become. They have shaped my vision of the world and introduced me to subjects in which I am interested such as racism, feminism, the promotion of a positive image of Africa and my hair.

Making mistakes belongs to the process. On the path to whatever goal, be reassured that you will fall and make mistakes. The most important thing is to know how you are going to react upon it. Are you going to complain or move forward? If you are a writer, your books won’t always be mistake-free or anything else, you will notice it and improve next time.

Faire des erreurs fait partie du jeu. Sur le chemin du succès, soyez en sûrs que vous tomberez et que vous ferez des erreurs. La chose la plus importante à savoir est comment vous réagirez ? Allez-vous vous en plaindre ou avancer ?

Let me rephrase it. I want to see what happens if I persist writing. Creative writing is a passion. Writing is a tool for me. It is something that I use to carry a message. My dream is to write many books that will positively impact readers. But to reach that goal, I have to keep on writing.

Je dois reformuler cette citation: je voudrais voir ce qui se passera si je continue d’écrire. Écrire des romans est une passion pour moi. C’est aussi un instrument que j’utilise pour véhiculer un message. Mon rêve est d’écrire plusieurs livres qui auront un impact positif sur mes lecteurs. Afin d’atteindre cet objectif, je dois continuer d’écrire.

Chacun a reçu un talent dans la vie. Pour les écrivain.e.s, c’est l’art de raconter des histoires. Tout le monde ne peut pas devenir écrivain. Il y a des peintres, des musiciens, des ingénieur.e.s, etc. Dans mon pays, on dira : « chacun a son couloir ». Quel est le tien ? Si tu as reçu un don, utilise-le. Quand on fait ce qu’on aime, on se sent vivant. On n’est pas des zombies qui suivent simplement une routine mais plutôt des personnes qui donnent un sens à leur vie. Écrire, c’est vivre.

Anyone has received a gift. Writers are good storytellers. But everybody won’t have the same ability. There are painters, musicians, ingenieurs, etc. Acknowledge your talent and do what you know how to do well. What is your gift? If you use it, you will feel alive as I do when I am writing.
